The Good: The Powermatic 1791228K Model is an excellent saw for any contractor that uses wood for their projects on a daily basis. The 50-inch accu-fence addition allows you cut bigger and longer pieces of wood accurately and the 1-1/2 horsepower motor allows the blade to cut through even the toughest woods out there. Consumers also get a well built saw, featuring cast iron legs and a sturdier table top to prevent movement while cutting and the strength to hold heavier loads.

The Bad: While there were not many bad reviews on the Powermatic Model, the biggest complaint was due to the vibration of the saw when powered on for cutting. Because of the vibration, it was a necessity to for users to readjust the calibrations on the saw before using; causing a little frustration and time consumption before a job could be done. Users also said that while the Powermatic has a dust bag, it only holds a minimal amount of the dust that’s released from the saw when cutting.

The Bottom Line: While the saw may need adjusting before each new use, users considered this a minor complication for the superior cutting quality that the Powermatic 1791228K Model performed on a regular basis. With the 50” accu-fence users had no problems tackling even bigger projects and found it handy tool to have when cutting trim, rough cut lumber, cabinetry and other various projects involving the construction of wood. Although there were minor alterations the saw needed and the dust bag didn’t do much, users were still happy overall and those issues didn’t affect rating of the saw.
