There has been alot of talk lately on a new up and coming company, Alegria Shoes. Specializing in clogs, this company has been taking the world by storm. The company makes its mark by stating that they provide the best clog for professionals in the work force. This is including, but not limited to Nurses, Doctors, Teachers, Waiters, Orderly’s, and pretty much anyone who works and is on their feet all day. Alegria has been the desired footwear for these professionals for quite a while now.

The Alegria Classic Clog is the most popular choice in the medical industry, with colors of many varieties. Their claim to fame is the mild rocker bottom, the contorts with the natural walking nature of the foot, as well as the slip resistant bottom, that means you can wear the shoe on wet surfaces without slipping.

There are plenty of places to buy Alegria Shoes online. The actual manufacturer marks their shoes up so that people will shop with the retailers, vs. dealing with the manufacturer directly, which isnt something that all companies do, and is a good thing. There is one store, Alegria Shoe Shop, that we found to be incredibly hard to navigate, and we just didnt like the overall flow, or feel to the website. Then the next (and in our opinion the best) runner up, is the Wellness Shoe Store. They have a great site, great customer service, and their website is very easy to navigate, and its easy to find products that your looking for. Make sure that you check the Wellness Shoe Store, for http://wellnessshoestore.com/alegria-shoes, for all Alegria Shoes, clogs, and purchases.

How to Make a Rope Rappelling Harness – A simple guide for quick construction

<img src="http://gean-edwards.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/How-to-make-rope-rappelling-harness1.jpg"" alt="How To Make a Rope Rappelling Harness" />Making a rope rappelling harness is a simple task that is very easy to do provided you’ve been properly trained on how to do it. These kinds of harnesses can be purchased at your local sporting goods store pre-made. However, we’ve decided to provide our readers with instructions on how to do it themselves, so that you can avoid having to add any sort of unnecessary expense to your budget. Climbing webbing can be used for this process if you have it. Your legs, hips, and waist will have loops that are provided to you by the sit string rope’s rappelling harness. You then connect that unit to the carabiner.

Step #1 – You need to get a sufficient amount of webbing. These can be purchased at any sporting goods store, and this webbing will be used to tie your rope rappelling harness.
Step #2 – Using the overhead knots, you need to tie 2 leg loops (which are called bowlines). They need to be a bit larger than the circumference of the area of your thighs, and you’ll need to leave a small link (about 6″) of webbing inbetween the loops.
Step #3 – Step one of your legs into each loop, then bring the harness around your waist. From there, tighten those loops around your leg until they hug you, and they feel very snug. Next, pull the remaining webbing to the back of your legs, and wrap them around the outside of your legs, and under each of the leg loops.
Step #4 – Cross the remaining webbing in the form of an “X” in the front of your body, and then around to your backside. The two ends should be near your belly button when done.
Step #5 – Tie the ends together (by using a water or square knot), and finally with an overhand knot.
Step #6 – Clip the water knot together with the X across your abs by using a locking carabiner. *Note* You have to make certain that the carabiner is clipped on with the opening portion, that is facing towards you facing up. Once complete, you are all set and ready to go!

Below is a video that we’ve attached to give you all a visual aid for the process:

Disclaimer

You need to take a large amount of care, and caution when creating, and using these kinds of harnesses. Poorly constructed harnesses can lead to them coming apart, which will result in injury, or possibly death. ALWAYS consult an expert prior to doing this.

Juicing 101 – Are you getting the best tasting juice out of your Juicer? Details inside

If your reading this post, its probably because you love juice, and if you are a serious juice connoisseur, then you probably own a Juicer. With that being said, everyone (including our editors) has gone through the process of trying to figure out what the best fruit and/or veggie combinations were to make the best tasting juice. There have been times where there were great juices made, and there were other times where the liquid we had couldn’t even be defined as juice. This could be the result of several different factors, but from our studies we’ve learned that proper preparation is the most important, and can be the difference between great tasting juice, or not so great tasting juice.

<img src="http://gean-edwards.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/How-to-use-juicer1.jpg"" alt="Getting the most out of your juicer" />The second most important factor would be knowing how to properly use your juicer. We’ve provided some basic tips today to show our readers just what needs to be done in order to prep your juicer, what needs to be done to prep your produce, and what to do with the pulp and remains afterwards.

Produce Preparation – How to Buy and Store your Fruits & Veggies

A key proponent to making great tasting juice is to always use fresh produce. How fresh is fresh? Something that you’ve purchased the same day that you are juicing, but no more than two days prior. Now to some that can be a major pain having to constantly make trips to the grocery store, but fresh fruit is always best.

Storage Life – How to Make Your Produce Last Longer

In order to keep your produce alive and fresh for a longer period of time, it would be best to wash all of your produce, prior to you putting it into storage. This is something that you see commonly at grocery and whole food stores. They will wash and spray the produce down daily to assure customers its as fresh as can be. Washing your produce is also something that we suggest you do BEFORE you juice. Reason being is because sometimes there are chemicals (and in some cases) pesticides that are still on the fruit. These pesticides and chemicals are easy to wash off, and its ALWAYS best to do this BEFORE juicing (or eating).

Produce Preparation – Getting the Produce Ready

There are plenty of produce items on the market that have skin that arent meant to be eaten. Hard fruits usually belong to the “peel first” family because the skin on these fruits are know to be mildly poisonous. Be sure to peal hard skin or shells prior to you attempting to juice it. *Note* This is not a necessary step with citrus juicers because citrus juicers use what is called a “reamer”, which rotates and shreds produce in order to extract the juice, and if, on the other hand you are using a masticating juicer (i.e Omega J8006), then skin, and seed removal is absolutely necessary.

Consumers Tip #1

Buying your fruits while they are in season while save you both time, and money. Sometimes there are stores that carry fruits that are “out of season”, and the fruits will be a bit more expensive because of this. Buying them and storing them while in season will save you money. Once the produce has been acquired, the way to get the best tasting juice, is to be sure that you refrigerate your produce prior to juicing it.

Methods for Juicing

The type of juicer that you’ll be using will be the determining factor in the kinds of produce that you’ll be juicing. In the juicer family, there are three major types of juicers. The first of which, is the citrus juicer. As the name implies, it does its best work when juicing citrus fruits. The second, is the centrifugal juicer (which is multi-purposed). And finally the third is the masticating juicer. Centrifugal juicers work best for soft fruits (I.E mango, strawberries, Kiwi), and masticating juicers are best for veggies and leafy greens (I.E Kale, Spinach, Wheatgrass). The manual that comes with the juicer normally will have the best advice and tips, but often times over look certain details.

Consumer Tip #2 – What to Run Through the Juicer First

If you are juicing a combination of ingredients (with varying textures), then start the process off with the softer ingredients. Does this first, and put them through your juicer on the lowest speed setting, then scale up to the higher speed settings when ingredients are harder and tougher.

Consumer Tip #3 – Use Small Quantities

Start out by putting small quantities of produce into the juicer, and let the majority of the juice get extracted before adding in more produce. Alot of people make the mistake of shoving all of the produce through the juicer at one time, which results in the machine being jammed, and sometimes even the unit overheating.

Consumer Tip #4 – How to Deal With Veggies

Bundling your veggies together is the best way to juice this kind of produce. Doing this will keep all of the produce compact, and the machine will be able to extract a higher yield of juice. Another tip would be to place your veggies (still compacted) inbetween two other sets of produce (I.E fruits on bottom, veggies in middle, and more fruits on top). This will help compact and bunch they veggies up to get a high yield of juice. *Note* slower speed settings work best for this.

Consumer Tip #5 – Juice Recipe Troubleshooting

In the event that you’ve bought a recipe book for juicing (like most of our readers), then you may undergo a small “crisis”. If you notice that you fall just short of the required amount of produce for a particular recipe, keep in mind the juice will taste just as good even if it is missing a small ingredient. Don’t panic or fret because you are missing a small aspect.

Consumer Tip #6 – Getting the Best Use Out of Your Juicer

As mentioned earlier in this write-up, the type of juicer you use will determine what kind of produce you’ll be juicing, We have provided a list of tips that are universal to any type of juicer that you’ll be using.

1. Never place any of the cordage, or mechanical parts in any form of water. Doing so will cause an electrical hazard.
2. Keep children away from the machine. It has sharp parts that can cut, and injure them.
3. Be sure to power the unit completely down when cleaning it to avoid any form of electric hazards.
4. Be sure to use the pusher to shove produce further down into the machine, and not your hand. The pusher can also be utilized to unclog the machine.
5. Be sure to supervise your juicer the entire time its powered on.
6. Make sure that the surface area of your juicer is dry, and stable. You don’t want the juicer to move around while its powered on.
7. If your juicer needs to be repaired, take it to a professional, do not attempt to fix it yourself.

Consumer Tip #7 – Dealing With The Pulp

Contrary to what most would think, the pulp has a multitude of uses. The pulp is always full of nutrients (Fiber, Cellulose, etc.), and can provide you with dietary and nutritional values. Below are some of the options that you’ll have to help you deal with the pulp.

Option #1 – Toss it in the garbage

Some people don’t like pulp, regardless of the nutritional values. If you have no plans on making use of the pulp, line the pulp container with a plastic bag so that it will catch the pulp as it comes out. This way when the process is over, you can simply take the bag out of the container, and throw it away without having to worry about cleaning anything up.

Option #2 – Make use of it!

We have several different recipes here that make use of the pulp from the juicer. Just be sure to use the pulp immediately after the juicing process to make sure there are no loss of nutrients. Pulp can be used with tea’s, casseroles, and all sorts of other things.

Option #3 – Compost it for garden use

This one is pretty simple, pulp is great for compost, and can do a tremendous job in helping out with your garden.

Kickback and Table Saw Safety: Do’s and Dont’s

<img src="http://gean-edwards.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Table-Saw-Safety1.jpg"" alt="Table Saw Safety" />Construction and wood workers alike are all very aware of the dangers of Kickback. Kickback is what happens when the material that your cutting (most commonly wood) is driven back towards the operator in an unexpected fashion by the table saw’s blade. Its an issue that is caused in most cases by the teeth of the table saw catching onto your material, or not thoroughly cutting through it.

Advice, & Precautions for Safety

First, make sure that you have sufficient power from your table saw so that it can cut through the material on the table without any problems. Depending on the dimensions of the wood you are cutting, you will have to make sure that your table saw has enough horsepower in its motor so that it will cut directly through the wood without any problems. In most cases a 1.5-2 Horsepower motor will do just fine.

Secondly, you have to be certain that the height of the blade is set correctly. It doesn’t need to be super high, but about an inch and a half is good. If the blade is too low, the wood will have too many teeth in it, and can result in jamming and kickback. It also can result in your motor overheating because of how hard it will work. If your blade is set to high, then that is also dangerous because you arent very far away from the blades sharp edges.

Finally, try to keep the wood fed continuously and evenly through the table saw. A mistake that is fairly common amongst most new woodworkers is that they’ll feed the wood through either too fast, or too slow. Too slow results in overheating the motor (and drag), and too fast will result in uneven, rough, and cuts that are extremely jagged. For help on choosing a good table saw, please navigate to the best table saw reviews page for more indepth details.

Modern age Helmet Cameras have eliminated cassette and have gone digital!

<img src="http://gean-edwards.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/gopro-motorsports-helmet-camera-blogpost1.jpg"" alt="Best Helmet Camera Reviews" />In the early 80′s helmet cameras were bulky and heavy because they used video tape to record. Wearing one was compared to having a VHS player strapped to your helmet. With the creation of digital recording technology, helmet camcorders became smaller and lighter. Digital video helmet cameras were the next step in the evolution. With improved lithium-ion batteries, recording time and video quality improved greatly. The video could be uploaded to a desktop computer, however a wired controller was still needed to control the camera during use.

Wireless technology improved, and the helmet camera became available at consumer affordable prices. Wireless technology allowed the operator’s hands free to engage in any imaginable activity. Extreme sports enthusiasts have adopted these low cost HD cameras to capture all of their most “gnarly” moments. Some manufactures make waterproof housings, making these cameras perfect for underwater activity like snorkeling. Military and police groups have started to adopt cameras to record operations. With that said, audio capturing devices can be connected to most models.

SD cards have become the standard recording media, as they are shock resistant, water resistant, and work well in low temp environments. Some camera’s can even transmit the video in real-time back to a laptop or central video broadcasting system. Mounting hardware is typically supplied my the manufacturer for mounting the camera to a helmet, goggles or dashboard. Suction cup mounts are also supplied for certain models. Any activity where a helmet is required, one can now record all the action.

When choosing the typer of helmet camera that best fits your loved one, consider what sport or hobby the person practices. For people who love to ski, snowboard, or mountain bike there would be nothing more enjoyable than receiving a helmet camera to get all those action shots. Helmet cameras offer many features, and choosing the right camera is paramount!

Some options to consider: Will the person be using the camcorder underwater? Will the person be using the camera while driving or operating a motorbike? For water use, we suggest purchasing a helmet camera with a waterproof enclosure. A water resistant camera will not suffice. For your favorite motorsports enthusiast, a camera with a remote control will be required. A remote will allow for the user to stop, and record with a remote instead of having to mess with the camera. Make sure you choose a camera that will suit the weather conditions it will be used in. Some models feature a battery warming mode for cold weather use. Most cameras are very durable, and will handle harsh conditions.

A helmet camera is a great gift that can be used all year long! Todays helmet camcorders are inexpensive, and finding one to fit your budget is easier than ever.
